Labor day weekend was all it promised to be. Warm, sunny weather in UT & spending some much needed quality time with Dr. Hottie. I arrived in SLC on Friday. Of course Dr. Hottie was working, so I took the light rail from the airport to downtown. It was a mere $2.50 for a one way ticket (steal), & I mistakenly thought the 2 mile walk from downtown to our apartment would be a breeze. 95 degrees, sun, luggage, and a VERY steep hill = me arriving 2.5 hours after landing. This Dr's wife definitely does not lead a glamo life- until Saturday anyway ;-)
Saturday called for a play day in Park City. It was a ~30 min. drive from SLC, and well worth it. We did a couple hikes- the 2nd of which was in the Canyons ski resort. We took the gondola up to the ski runs and hiked from there. It seems to be a mountain biker's paradise in the summer.
We ended the day with a stop at High West Distillery. Dr. Hottie went with one of their whiskey's neat and I splurged on a whiskey margarita (sounds weird but was ahh-mazing)!
The rest of the weekend included baking, solo hiking, and sneaking in some more time with Dr. Hottie (even at work!) The next time we'll see each other is when he has vacation the 2nd week of October (his 1st visit to Madison post- graduation). Tomorrow marks the last 1st day of school for me. I neglected to take Physics and Organic Chemistry in my undergraduate years, so those are the classes I will end my academic career with. They will be oh so boring, time consuming- and I still need to find the time to finish my thesis, defend my project to my committee, and continue working in the lab- EASY RIGHT?!? I can handle any one moment, but a bunch of "moments" all piled up scare the *hit out of me. One day at a time- for 16 weeks- and this chapter will be closed.
I will end with something to make us all smile. When I started my college career at UW-Madison in 2002, the current freshman class was ~ 7 years old. HA!
