I'm not usually big on Thanksgiving. I'm not really American, I'm on the fence as to whether its history should be a celebratory thing, and I have an intense loyalty to Swedish Christmas dinner. BUT. The residency gods (aka residency chief) scheduled Dr.Hottie to have Thursday and Friday off work. What?!? Come again- a holiday off of work?!? It was the first one for Dr.H in 1.5 years, and who knows when the stars will align again. Thus, Thanksgiving became the biggest holiday of the year. There was family, an overabundance of food & drink, running, hiking, and warm weather to boot. And did I mention Dr.H didn't work...on a holiday. I'm still scratching my head about it. Enjoy a Thanksgiving recap (mostly) in pictures.
Turkey day started with a ridge run in the foothills behind our house. I had spent too long staring at the ridge leading to one of my favorite high points, so to the ridge we went.
After too much food and drink on Thursday afternoon, we headed out to Antelope Island (largest island in the Great Salt Lake) on Friday with Dr.Hottie's family. We hiked to the highest point- Frary Peak- on the island. It was eerily calm and warm, but that made the views the best I've ever seen them on the island.
The Christmas tree is up & we saw the immaculate lights at the Temple Square downtown. My head may be near explosion with juggling 4 jobs, my fitness needs some attending to, and there are xmas presents to finish...but I am SO happy residency forces me to grab hold of free moments, squeeze every bit of awesomeness out of them, smile, and be thankful.
