The November interview guest is....my sister Jessica! I am lucky enough to have 2 sisters (one older-33 and one younger- 26) who are my best friends. My older sister is doing it all- career, baby, wife, and active in the community. My younger sister, Jessica is a firecracker and has been since birth. She is THE social butterfly of the family and is always on the move. She has her masters degree in accounting, and works for one of the big 4 accounting firms in Charlotte, NC. She is currently traveling for work a LOT, but is amazingly able to maintain healthy eating and an active lifestyle.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
1) How often are you traveling for work at the moment and where to?
Currently I am travelling about 2 to 3 weeks each month. This travel schedule starts in August and will continue through January. Most of my travel is up to La Crosse, WI (about 2 hours east of Minneapolis)
2) What's a go-to healthy meal on the road for you?
It's definitely a challenge to stay healthy when on the road so much. When we are in La Crosse we tend to go out to eat quite a bit, but there are always healthy options. I tend to stick to the grilled fish choices and substitute the regular side for steamed veggies. When I'm more on the go, such as at the airport, I love a good protein bar like Cliff bars or Luna bars. I will also go to the local grocery store in La Crosse to pick up some good snacks to have at the hotel my typical go to's are apples, yogurt and almonds.
3) How do you resist the cheese curds and beer??? ;-)
Those are hard to resist especially go 'ol Wisconsin beer! It's always hard to turn down a spotted cow and a basket of curds :)
4) What are your favorite workouts to do when traveling- how long are they? where do you do them?
I've been really into Tabata workouts recently, I find them a great way to get in a challenging workout when you have limited time. If I have the time I love to get in a nice 25-30 minute run followed by a series of 6 tabatas alternating between an emphasis between arms and legs. This whole workout will take about an hour, but if I'm short on time I will shorten the run and try and get in some more high intensity tabatas. Whenever I'm travelling I try and find a local YMCA to go to rather than just sticking to the hotel gym. I love the local La Crosse YMCA!
5) What do you do to pass the time in airports/on the airplane?
Unfortunately I often find myself using the time to get in some extra work, but when I'm not working I like to have a good book to read. Right now I'm reading The Hemingway Women.
**Bonus- How is Sasha (her cat) holding up?
Sasha is doing well thanks to having a great pet sitter. I have been fortunate enough to have an amazing pet sitter, which I found through the company Fluffs of Luv. She still likes to act out occassionally and help me "re-decorate", her way of letting me know I need to come home more...
