5 more weeks- of Dr.Hottie working nights, and 5 more weeks until I get to drop one job and focus more on the ones I love. We knew the winter months would be hard, and gosh are they. Dr.H really has a respectable number of days off during the night rotation- 1 night every other week & 2 nights the other weeks. The only problem is, the schedule is so weird. On his days off, he comes home and naps a couple hours, then drags himself out of bed to try and enjoy the day and sleep at night. Last week, we ran into one of the attendings (real doctors) at REI, and when Dr.H mentioned he had a day off the attending reminded him, "there are no days off during nights...just the haze". Amen! If any of you readers out there work nights- or god forbid- switch between nights and days- bless your heart! I do my best to provide Dr.H with some normalcy and fun on his time off, but to be completely honest- he is SO tired- I know I need to tone the frustration down and just be ok with his quiet presence. I couldn't imagine working his schedule after all...
On the flipside, we've embraced winter hiking. For some odd reason x-country skiing has been bothering my knees, and I don't like "running" through snow- so slowing down and hiking has been rather enjoyable. Particularly, because Utah winter temps are quite mild compared to the negative 500 degrees of Wisconsin. Enjoy some winter hiking pictures!
