My life has been all fun and games the last 4 weeks. Family visits, vacations, and plenty of adventures to boot. In the airport, on the way back from vaca, I was tempted to hop on a plane and see how long I could avoid the painful process of networking in a new place and building a career one painful lego piece at a time. Thankfully, I have no $$ to spend on an endless vacation, and my family is not big on allowing pity parties. So, I put my big girl panties on, and to the drawing board I went.
The result is Team Beck Multisport Coaching LLC! The goal of the company is to provide remote coaching to runners, swimmers, and triathletes of all abilities. My favorite part of coaching is getting to know how an athlete "ticks" and crafting a training plan to fit his/her needs. I love the challenge of having a project that is my own- whether it be successes or mistakes- I am the one accountable. The demands of medical marriage require flexibility, several impending moves, and me as primary care giver to our future children. Instead of letting the demands swallow me whole (like the gnarliest of grizzly bears), I'll take solace in having a project that can easily move with the ebbs and flows of medical marriage. Take that surgery (just kidding...but not really)! So there you have it- I'm jumping off the high dive, and hopefully there will be water to catch my fall. Everything starts somewhere.
No one achieves success by acting as a 1 man/woman show. I'm seeking out mentors & challenges- with a couple new gigs in the works- hopefully to share soon. I appreciate your shares, comments, and support! I'll leave you all with a few pics of our latest mountain run. 17 miles and 4k feet of climbing. Race day is getting closer...
